With a Little Help from my Friends

Everyone needs a little help from time to time. Whether it be to appeal to a vast new audience, or to win the one thing that has eluded them their entire career. While both Adam Sandler and Lebron James are draped with countless accolades they have not yet reached the summit. They have both recently teamed up with other giants within their crafts to indeed reach that summit.

Adam Sandler has been on television and in movies for the past three decades. From his start on the Cosby Show, to his classic Billy Madison, Sandler has been making a name for himself as a laugh factory leaving those who view in exploits and tears. Recently Sandler decided to team up with the likes of Chris Rock, Seth Rogen, Jennifer Aniston, and Kevin James. With titles like Zoo Keeper, Grown Ups, Just Go With It, and I Know Pronounce you Chuck and Larry, Sandler has not only expanded his audience but put his Happy Madison production company at the forefront of both comedy and movies for the whole family. Sandler provides laughs for all ages, from 7 to 77, and he shows no signs of slowing down. The top of the movie game might not be a line which can be seen by the naked eye, but rest assured Adam Sandler now lives on the other side of that mountain.

“The Chosen One”, “King James” or the occasional “Le-brick”; Lebron James is no doubt one of the best players in the NBA. He has yet to live up to the nickname King, mainly because of his lack of championship jewelry. Last offseason the entire sports world was shalen when the King announced he was taking his talents to South Beach, joining forces with fellow superstar Dwayne Wade and All-Star Chris Bosh. The idea is that “The Big Three”  would put their names in NBA record books as one of the most dominant dynasties ever assembled, and they did reach the finals in their first year together, but the Dallas Mavericks had other plans, putting the dynasty on ice for at least one more year. Despite that minor set back, the sky is the limit for this team who should presumably be in contention for the next half decade or so. They proved too much for the number one-seeded Bulls, and seemed to have the Mavericks right where they wanted them. The idea that having 2 of the top 5 players in the league together has put so much fear in Eastern Conference GM’s that after the lockout lifts, you will almost definitely see Chris Paul in the orange and blue of New York, maybe even a Dwight Howard trade with OKC. The King’s all around game joining up with the dominance of former Finals MVP Dwayne Wade makes this union so so deadly.

Championships bring happiness, and in some cases more championships. Some things in life you can’t do by yourself, sometimes you’re already at the top of your game and you want to bring some friends along for a wild ride. These two great men put in work on the court, on the screen, and in the community. They both love giving back and love helping children. While their one on one game would probably be very one-sided – with Sandler winning of course – We can hold them in the same light in one instance. They both got help from their friends in hopes of reaching new heights in their respective fields.
